We are about to start our 4th new beginners guitar group (September 25).

We will be meeting twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, 2pm – 4pm, at Shatterford village hall.

The full beginners course lasts for a maximum 2 years, divided into 4 six-monthly blocks, at a cost of £20 per member, per block. This fee covers room hire, refreshments, documentation and heating (necessary in the winter). Fees are non returnable as we pay for room hire in advance.

The group is basically for people who have never played guitar, but there may be members who strummed a chord or two in their youth, and want to try again.

By the end of the first 6 months, we hope to be rhythmically strumming most of the common chords, to accompany us as we sing some well-known songs. By the end of the 1st year we should be playing some simple fingerpicking patterns, and have a basic knowledge of music theory.

Year 2 consolidates our knowledge and skills, and we play slightly more complex tunes.

Members of the group must have their own guitars, or access to one.
