Danielle Saxon Reeves- 'Medieval to Modern'
Her talk was entitled 'Medieval to Modern' with musical illustration.
Beautiful music, fascinating instruments and also a summary of musical styles over several centuries.
She plays and teaches the guitar, mandolin and banjo and she also conducts and directs.

Mark Baldwin- 'The Enigma Machine''

As we learned from Dr Mark Baldwin, this robust German made machine played a vital part in the decoding of enemy messages in WW2.
However we also needed the brain power and hard work of hundreds of citizens during the course of several years to use the information gained in the ‘war machine. ‘
Also let’s not forget those 3 Polish mathematicians whose work was given to the Allies before war broke out, which gave us such a head start.

First a message from The Chair: Val Hurst
Our multicultural event this year was a huge success and greatly enjoyed by both members and entertainers alike!
To make all this possible though, huge thanks must be extended to Roger Quiney for managing all the lighting, audio and visuals equipment and Ruth Walmsley and Sue Cutler for their excellent organisation, preparation and hard work involved before, during and after the event.
The entire afternoon ran seamlessly. The tasty boxes of food which contained samples representing the north-east and Cornwall was a really unique idea which everyone appreciated.
Many thanks also to every single volunteer who helped out on the day and, of course not forgetting, our essential tea ladies for coping so well, as they always do.
Everyone agreed afterwards that seeing our members enjoy the event and having fun was our reward for giving you what you want.
It's why we are here! 🙂
