A series of lively discussions loosely based on the Radio 4 debates called ‘The Moral Maze’. Your one-stop-shop for friendly, lively, light-hearted  debate. As a group, we decide future topics.

Generally, we meet on the 2^nd  Thursday of the month:

At Wribbenhall Community Hall, Shaw Hedge Rd, Bewdley DY12 1EU (what3words gives the location as... pampered.unspoiled.opposites)

From 2pm to 4pm, with a break for refreshments around 3pm (Dates may change… so please call to check)

The topic is emailed out to our members around a week in advance of our meeting, along with confirmation of date, time and location.

Generally we do not have a formal meeting in August; the December meeting can be used as a Party opportunity.

There is a small attendance fee, currently £3, to cover the cost of refreshments and the venue charge.

Our aim is to respectfully examine moral issues around a subject through lively, yet relaxed, debate. It is light-hearted rather than heavy…

The topics are of current interest, and engaging.  Often challenging and provocative too.

Past topics have included:

• Does fear outweigh and  any moral consideration in decision making today?

• Morality in a gender non-binary society?

• What are the moral principles necessary for world peace?

• Is it morally acceptable to send a Christmas card to someone just because they sent one to you?

Given the nature of the group we have some ground rules as follows:

• All things said in the group remain confidential.
• Respect each other, and each other’s views.
• Listen respectfully, without interrupting. 
• Listen actively and with an ear to understanding others' views.
• Criticise ideas, not individuals.
• Avoid blame, speculation, and inflammatory language.
• Allow everyone the chance to speak.

If anyone is finding the any part of the session too demanding, there are ways to deal with this.

We arrive as friends,

remain friends during the debate

and leave as friends.
